More on our Speakers

Ed Litton
Senior Pastor Redemption Church, Mobile
Ed serves the Lord as Lead Pastor of Redemption Church in Mobile, Alabama. Ed began ministry as a church planter in Arizona and came to First Baptist North Mobile in 1994. Ed and his wife, Tammy, planted the Mountain View Baptist Church in 1987 and saw God bless the birth and establishment of an effective evangelistic church. He came to a great church with a great vision in Alabama. Since his coming, North Mobile continued to grow and expand its work in missions around the world. In 2007 Ed, his family, and the entire church family suffered a devastating loss when his wife, Tammy, was suddenly killed in an automobile accident. God began to direct North Mobile to see disciple making as the real imperative of The Great Commission. This and other changes have led to a rebirth of God’s vision. North Mobile has embraced a vision of reaching more and making disciples through church planting and the expansion of multiple locations. In September of 2015, the church relaunched as a new congregation called Redemption Church. A fresh wind of God’s Spirit is blowing and working, as people are growing in grace and making disciples who make disciples. Today, Redemption Church has two locations in North and West Mobile and is planting churches in New York City, Cleveland, Ohio, Denver and Las Vegas. Ed’s new chapter continues as he married Kathy Ferguson, a pastor’s wife, who suffered a similar loss and now leads a ministry to pastors’ wives through the North American Mission Board called Flourish.

Dr. Blake Newsom
Senior Pastor, Dauphin Way Baptist Church
Blake came to Dauphin Way Christmas of 2014 as their Interim Pastor before accepting the call as Senior Pastor in February 2016. He received his M.Div., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2008
Th.M., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2010
Ph.D., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2012
God has given Blake a deep passion for preaching His Word to as many people as possible while also teaching and equipping others to preach His Word. He feels called to encourage and equip people to be salt and light in a decaying and dark world in need of the life and light of Christ. Blake believes Christians are called to change the world through the proclamation of the glorious message of Jesus to all nations and generations. Blake affectionately refers to his wife, Brooke, as a Proverbs 31 wife, They have three children…Judson (3), Levi (1), and Nehemiah (born May 13, 2016).

Ted Traylor:
Pastor, Olive Baptist Church, Pensacola

In addition to serving as First Vice-President of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000 and President of the Florida Baptist Convention in 1995, Dr. Traylor served as President of the Southern Baptist Convention’s 2004 Pastors’ Conference.

He has preached extensively throughout the United States in conferences and revivals. Dr. Traylor is the author of The Eight Callings of God, A Compass, a Map and a Passport: God’s Provisions for Life’s Journey and What Is a Southern Baptist? Key Denominational Distinctives.
